Of course he’ll drive his father
to the casket showroom to select
the plush case in which wife & mother
will cure for a million years. A vast, maroon
station wagon. Power steering. Tiny wheel.
November half gone. The damp not
bone-cold yet. Next week, the city will string
green & red lights across the thriving avenue.
Well, certain workers will. The corned beef
is warm, pickle sweet, rye & mustard fresh.
