wisdom of the senile mind
a young voice with deaf ears
asks the question with no answer
relentless in their quest
yet clueless to the knowledge
with which they are blessed
I'm old, senile i guess
not always on my game
nor at my best
but inside
i hide
the wisdom of years
so why even ask of me
what have i to offer unto
the wisdom of youth
maybe nothing more
than intelligence and truth
what is left in me
except life earned wisdom
and advice which is free
why should the knowledge
of days come and gone
be relevant
to the now at hand
and all that is going on
what have i
that could be worthwhile
i think to myself
and i smile
they learn as they grow
and seldom do they know
the wisdom within
their oldest kin
