Soft Whispers
Indulge my vanity with
soft whispers. Tell me I
am beautiful, because I
can’t believe it on my own.
Run your fingers through
my hair. Trace infinity
on my cheeks. Hum the
tune of my heart.
When frosted air seeps
through the windows, hold
my hand tight. Tell me
we will brave the cold
together. The warmth of
the words good morning
as they leave your lips is
enough.
I promise I will never forget
the way you liberate
my secrets. The things
that ache relentlessly
fall from my lips with
ease when I am around
you. Your smile elicits
a striking transparency.
Fulfill my longing with
open arms and the taste
of melted butter. Give
me just enough so that
I keep coming back. (I
will always come back.)
Walk each step like you
are changing the world-
I beg you. Because each day
you change mine.
With quiet breaths of love
that coat the windows in
a weightless fog.
