Chasing Stars

I’ve been losing sleep
following the celestial trail
I can’t quite reach

Each one glimmers,
promising something beyond
but the clock steals time, laughing
as my feet pound hard
against life’s rhythm,
slipping on dreams
dripping from damp pockets
across the velvet night sky,

Everything I want
like catching fireflies: both too close and too far
